Hungary to Implement Stricter Penalties for Pedophilia Offenses, Announces Fidesz-KDNP
The ruling parties Fidesz-KDNP have introduced a new child protection legislative package aimed at implementing stricter penalties for pedophilia offenses.
As defined by the legal package, sexual offenses of a pedophilic nature will not be subject to statute limitations, conditional releases will not be granted, there will be no reintegrative custody, and offenders will never be eligible to receive a certificate of good conduct.
The legislation also mandates the inclusion of Hungarians who commit such crimes abroad in a public pedophile database. Moreover, child protection professionals who fail to report when a child is in a jeopardized situation may face up to two years in prison under the new laws. Additionally, rigorous compatibility screenings will be conducted for those working in child protection institutions to ensure the safety and well-being of the children under their care.
The head of the party's parliamentary faction, commented on the dedication of many honest and respectable individuals working within child protection services, emphasizing the necessity to weed out those who attempt to infiltrate these circles for exploitive purposes. According to his statement, the proposal will also simplify the process of reporting and removing content that violates children's personal rights.
Another integral amendment within the package seeks to safeguard children from age-inappropriate content by offering parents an option to request a "filtered internet" for their children, blocking access to blacklisted sites determined by the National Media and Communications Authority.
"We must protect children by all means," Kocsis stressed in his post, underscoring the comprehensive efforts to ensure their safety through these legislative measures.
