Hungary’s Popular Actor in Christmas Commercial Shown in Nine Countries

This year, Hungarian Telekom (Magyar Telekom) was the winner of German Telekom’s (Deutsche Telekom) competition to produce a Christmas commercial which will be broadcasted by the Group’s subsidiaries in nine countries. The new Christmas commercial stars the well-known and popular Hungarian actor, Róbert Koltai.

The Hungarian version is already running on the television thanks to Hungarian Telekom.

In the commercial, Koltai’s grandson wants the biggest Christmas present possible and is constantly talking about it with his grandfather via chat. The end of the story is very moving, you can watch an English version below:


Róbert Koltai (born December 16, 1943, in Budapest) is a Hungarian film and theater actor and film director. Koltai graduated from the Hungarian Theater and Film Academy in 1968 and began his acting career at the Kaposvár Theater. Koltai performed on the stages of Pécs and Veszprém, as well as at the National Theater in Budapest. Koltai gained wide popularity through his participation in television series. Koltai’s 1993 film Sose halunk meg (We Will Never Die), in which he starred and directed, was extraordinarily successful in Hungary. The same is true of Szamba (1996).

The commercial will be shown on TV screens in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovakia, Romania, and of course, Hungary.
