Hungarian Surgeon-Turned-Politician Aims to Improve EU Health Policies
Dr. Kulja, originally from Transcarpathia, Ukraine, moved with his family to Hungary in search of a better future. Driven by similar aspirations for his son, Kulja relocated his family to Brussels. As a politician, he quickly secured a role as vice-president of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) and deputy-coordinator of the subcommittee for public health (SANT). Kulja aims to tackle non-communicable diseases, improve health literacy, and participate in health policy programs across Europe. Despite his political role, he remains passionate about returning to Hungary to continue his surgical career, contingent on the future political climate under Orbán's leadership.
