Huawei Launches 40% More Efficient Home Energy Storage System in Hungarian Market
Huawei has updated its product lineup with a new device destined to transform solar-powered home energy systems.
According to the manufacturer, their latest home energy storage system, designed to hook up to residential solar power plants, promises a 40% increase in energy output compared to its predecessor. Featuring a flexible storage capacity expandable up to 20.7 kWh, and with the capability for parallel operation, capacity can soar to a staggering 82.8 kWh.
The ideal scenario for solar energy is direct consumption of the power generated by solar panels as it is produced. Smart systems play a crucial role by managing compatible devices to use electricity when sunlight is plentiful. However, not all appliances can operate this way, and often, solar panels generate more power during sunlight hours than can be immediately utilized. The surplus energy must either be stored on-site or fed back into the grid. Failing to do either results in a loss of excess energy since inverters equipped with reverse power protection won't absorb it from the solar panels.
Huawei's calculations suggest that with energy storage solutions, consumers can use up to twice as much of the solar energy produced on-site, enabling devices to run on solar power even when the sun isn’t shining.
In Hungary, the average household consumption is estimated at 7 kWh per day by state calculations. Theoretically, a solar energy system paired with a 7 kWh energy storage could fully cover this consumption if sunlight is consistent throughout the day.
Huawei's new energy storage system, equipped with Smart String technology, comes in three different storage capacities: 6.9 kWh, 13.8 kWh, and 20.7 kWh. Its next-generation storage modules, offering 40% higher performance, can be managed independently. Through parallel operation, up to four blocks can be interconnected, pushing the maximum storage capacity available per inverter to 82.8 kWh.
Operating at a whisper-quiet level below 29 decibels, the LUNA2000-7/14/21-S1 is protected against overcharging, overheating, and electrical overload. Thanks to its intelligent fire detection system, the model can identify and effectively extinguish a fire within 15 seconds.
With the built-in EMMA energy management assistant, users can monitor energy production, storage, and consumption in real time.
The company announced that the system is expected to hit the Hungarian market in September.
