Germany's Establishment War on Democracy: Blocking the People's Choice

The German establishment, like in France, is blatantly disregarding democracy by clinging to power after being rejected by voters. Instead of respecting the results, they are openly working to block the actual winners from taking office.
In Thuringia, the second-place CDU wasted no time proclaiming that Red-Red-Green was voted out and that they would explore options for forming a government. Yet, they immediately declared that they would not cooperate with the AfD, the party that won first place with 33% of the vote. This shows a brazen contempt for democracy, as back-room deals are being made to deny the people’s choice from governing.

Omid Nouripour of the Greens, part of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s coalition, expressed "concern" about AfD’s victory, labeling it dangerous for Germany. Scholz himself went as far as claiming that the AfD is damaging Germany, weakening the economy, dividing society, and ruining the country’s reputation. It’s clear these establishment figures are more concerned with losing their grip on power than respecting the democratic process.

Olaf Scholz is the Chancellor who made Putin richer and the German people poorer by cutting off their access to affordable oil and energy. While claiming it was a move to support Ukraine, the reality was that Putin's oil revenues doubled, energy costs for the German population skyrocketed, and the war in Ukraine not only continued but worsened. In effect, Olaf Scholz sanctioned the German population, not Putin, and contributed to escalating the war in Ukraine instead of helping Ukraine step back from the root cause of the conflict: Ukraine's violation of the Minsk Agreement. Putin has emphasized this point since day one of the war, stating that a return to the peaceful status quo would immediately end the conflict. Olaf Scholz had the opportunity to stop the war and protect the Ukrainian people long ago, but he chose to continue the war, at the expense of Germany's economy.

This trend mirrors what happened in France, where Emmanuel Macron’s party engineered backroom alliances to block Marine Le Pen’s National Rally from governing, despite winning the popular vote in European parliamentary elections.

Germany’s elites are now following suit, scrambling to preserve their control, even if it means undermining the very democracy they claim to defend. It’s not about right or left anymore; it’s about the establishment’s desperation to maintain power at any cost.

* Just to be clear and transparent: politically, we do not support the AfD, as they do not represent our values. However, we stand firmly in support of democracy, and it is up to the German voters to decide who will lead them. It is not for us, who have no right to vote in Germany, nor for Olaf Scholz, who holds just one vote out of millions. The German people have spoken, and many have chosen to support the AfD over his party. Respect for democracy means respecting their choice.
