In a surprising twist of events, László Péter Rózsa, a current municipal councilor, has vehemently denied the allegations made by his former party colleague, Iván András Hazai, a past deputy mayor for the Democratic Coalition (DK) in Óbuda.
Hazai had accused Rózsa of deceitfully manipulating him out of his assets.
According to a post on Rózsa's
Facebook page, back in 2017, when he was just an ordinary bus driver, he reached out to Ferenc Gyurcsány for assistance regarding his injured son. Gyurcsány, says Rózsa, was the only one who offered to help. Their collaboration included creating a small film in hopes it would gain media attention, an initiative Rózsa was keen to reciprocate. It was then that Rózsa got involved with Hazai, the chairman of DK in the 3rd district, by aiding him with poster and flyer distribution.
Rózsa claims that through many conversations, Hazai introduced him to the realm of politics, eventually leading to Rózsa becoming a DK member and later a councilor, initiating a friendship between the two.
"András was really kind, always helping us out financially when we were in a tough spot, which I always repaid," Rózsa recollects. However, Hazai contends that he lent over 40 million HUF to Rózsa, sometimes requiring as much as 400,000 HUF monthly. He alleges that Rózsa blackmailed him, physically assaulted him, and instilled fear in him. According to a report by Jelen, the police are investigating the issue under suspicion of blackmail and fraud.
Rózsa maintains that while Hazai did support his child's development programs, it was entirely voluntary: "He offered the help on his own. I never forced or blackmailed him into giving money, with threats of what would happen if he didn't." Rózsa further explains that they had planned to open a liquor discount store together, taking out bank loans separately but supporting each other as guarantors.
Due to the necessity of taking his son, Benett, to America for medical examinations, Rózsa, unable to secure a loan, accepted Hazai's offer of financial assistance, expressing profound gratitude with his wife, Dóri. "We were so thankful that we invited András to join us in America, because it was his support that made Benett's trip possible," Rózsa shares.
Rózsa also accuses Hazai of inappropriate behavior, including an instance where Hazai supposedly groped his wife, leading to the deterioration of their relationship.
Both men resigned from DK, with Rózsa disagreeing with the party's ideologies and actions, while Hazai objected to its alliance with the Jobbik party. They subsequently formed the Real Democrat Party with ten others, with Rózsa stating that everything was done voluntarily by Hazai.
Rózsa finds Hazai's allegations puzzling, emphasizing, "We didn't sell his apartment, I didn't force him to resign, we didn't sell his sister’s apartment. We bought the land together. He wanted it not registered under his name because of the treasury. He supported my son, helped him travel to the USA. And now, he portrays me as a monster, slandering and lying about me!"
