No Agreement with Turkey on Sweden's NATO Bid, Says Hungary's Orban
Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban clarified there is no agreement with Turkey concerning Sweden's NATO application, stating the Hungarian parliament alone will determine the timing of the vote.
Orban noted a lack of enthusiasm among his party's lawmakers for endorsing Sweden's membership.
The Hungarian parliament, set to reconvene in mid-February after a winter recess, has been a factor in the delayed process caused also by Turkish and Hungarian hesitations.
Concerns over criticisms from Swedish politicians regarding Hungary's democracy have contributed to the postponement.
