In an act of solidarity, Hungary has decided to donate 200 unused ventilators to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
These devices, stockpiled during the
COVID-19 pandemic at considerable cost, have had little opportunity for use within the country.
As reported on Monday, following information from the 444 news outlet, it became evident that from a package purchased for 8 billion forints of taxpayer money during the health crisis, less than 10 million forints would be recovered by the state. The unnecessarily large and excessively expensive batch of Chinese ventilators, which were initially bought at 10,760,000 forints each, are now offered for sale at a mere 13,000 forints each according to the enforcement agency's auction website.
A government resolution published on Monday evening details the free transfer of 200 state-owned ventilators to the Egyptian Arab Republic as part of a humanitarian aid effort, underscoring the gesture as a sign of solidarity.
