On Friday night, Microsoft-backed OpenAI announced that its ChatGPT service was experiencing an outage, rendering the popular chatbot unavailable to users.

According to Downdetector.com, over 19,403 users were affected by the disruption as of 7:13 p.m. ET (0013 GMT Saturday).

OpenAI stated on its website that they are investigating the issue and working towards restoring functionality.

The request for a comment from OpenAI received no immediate response.
