Brutal Murder Case Unfolds in Hungary: Details of the Fatal Attack on a Local Elderly Woman

The trial reveals chilling accounts surrounding the murder of 67-year-old Gyöngyi, known for her kindness in the Hős Street community.
The trial of S. Ferenc, accused of murdering his 67-year-old neighbor in Kőbánya, Hungary, is currently underway at the Fővárosi Törvényszék. The incident took place two and a half years ago, with the accused reportedly motivated by the belief that the victim, referred to locally as Gyöngyi néni, had money at her residence.

During the proceedings, M. Renáta, S. Ferenc’s partner, testified about the days leading up to the murder, detailing threats made by S. Ferenc towards her.

She recounted a conversation where he allegedly admitted to killing the elderly woman, stating, "I did it, my love, don’t worry."

Gyöngyi néni was known in her neighborhood as a generous figure, often lending money to those in need.

S. Ferenc, who had a criminal history, including a twelve-year sentence for robbery, was among those she had assisted.

The prosecution argues that both S. Ferenc and Renáta were aware that the victim kept cash at home, a claim S. Ferenc denied in court despite acknowledging having received loans from Gyöngyi prior to the incident.

Two weeks before the murder, the couple reportedly passed Gyöngyi on the street, where Renáta expressed knowledge about her alleged wealth.

On the evening of the murder, S. Ferenc allegedly entered Gyöngyi’s home with the intention of stealing money.

Upon discovery by the victim, a confrontation ensued, during which S. Ferenc stabbed her multiple times, ultimately leading to her death from severe blood loss.

Forensic experts confirmed that the victim suffered three stab wounds to the chest area.

The analysis indicated that she died almost instantly due to a traumatic shock caused by the injuries.

Post-attack, S. Ferenc allegedly proceeded to dispose of evidence by setting fire to Gyöngyi’s belongings in an attempt to destroy any incriminating traces.

M. Renáta reportedly assisted in this endeavor by watching for any outsiders during the act.

The couple later discarded the victim's mobile phone, with Renáta destroying it, having expressed her reluctance to keep stolen property.

During his testimony, S. Ferenc shifted blame to Renáta, claiming it was she who ignited the fire, while he previously accepted full responsibility during the police investigation.

Furthermore, S. Ferenc described his downward spiral since meeting Renáta, attributing his drug use and subsequent criminal behavior to their relationship.

As the trial continues, the prosecution has sought a life sentence for S. Ferenc for the premeditated murder of the vulnerable elderly woman.

For M. Renáta, prosecutors have recommended a three-year sentence for her role in concealing the crime.

The proceedings illuminate not only the personal history of the accused but also the wider societal challenges related to crime and vulnerability within communities.
