Banking Services Disruption Planned Across Major Institutions This Weekend

Numerous banks to halt services for system upgrades, affecting electronic transactions and customer access.
This weekend, major banking institutions are set to undergo extensive service disruptions due to system upgrades, impacting nearly all services offered.

K&H Bank is expected to experience the most significant interruption, suspending electronic services for almost an entire day.

OTP Bank will deactivate its online and mobile banking services, along with systems related to consumer loan requests, starting from May 24 at 10:15 PM until the following day at 1:45 AM. During this period, access to account management services through the bank's customer service will also be limited.

Erste Bank's disruptions will be even broader, with its George application and website, as well as the initiation and receipt of instant transfer payments, becoming unavailable from May 23 at 10:00 PM until 2:00 PM the next day.

Telephone and corporate services, SMS notifications, and online product applications will also be temporarily disabled.

K&H Bank will implement a full banking holiday starting Friday at 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Saturday.

All electronic channels, including internet banking and mobile banking, will be non-operational during this time.

Instant transfers will be rejected, and card services will only be available up to the balance accessible at 6:00 PM on Friday.

Customers can expect disruptions in online card transactions and SZÉP card payments, alongside potential failures or complete service outages for SMS notifications.

Maintenance will occur again on Sunday from 12:15 AM to 4:00 AM, impacting card payments, ATM services, and the application process for online banking cards.

Other banks are also planning shorter service interruptions.

CIB Bank will suspend its online platforms, mobile applications, and approval of online card transactions from 11:00 PM until 1:00 AM on May 23. The customer service line will operate with limited functionality, although card blocking services will remain available.

MBH Bank is arranging two brief maintenance windows, during which the email change feature and currency menu will be inaccessible on the netbank.

This maintenance will occur on Friday between 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM, and Saturday between 4:30 AM and 6:00 AM. Additionally, UniCredit will halt its SMS services related to card transactions and the card payment system on Sunday from 12:15 AM to 12:45 AM.

Customers are advised to prepare for these disruptions, particularly by ensuring they have sufficient cash on hand, as the use of bank cards and ATMs may encounter significant issues.
