Awful! A homeless man was abused by the police

A video has been made public in which the police are abusing and humiliating a homeless person in Hungary. The shocking scene was filmed at a police station with a mobile phone.
Shocking video from the police

A video was released in late January of a homeless man being abused and humiliated. The police had already announced that an investigation into the case had been launched.

Levente Varga was taken to the police station in December. At the police station, two policemen handcuffed him.

"A mop bucket was put on Varga’s head, and the policemen used a gas spray and sprayed it under the bucket multiple times."

There were several witnesses to the incident. One of the witnesses recorded the video with his phone. He even shared the footage on the internet. TV2 Tények released a video of the case.

“In a year you won’t see the amount of money that I earn in a week, and not from drugs, but by working,”

says one of the abusers on the footage. Tények also showed the recording to the victim, index.hu writes. Levente Varga said he was transferred from the emergency department of the local hospital to the police station. He is said to have attacked a nurse in the hospital, but he does not remember that. Varga said that someone put something in his drink that knocked him out for several hours. However, he remembers what had happened at the police station.

“He grabbed the bucket, put it over my head, used the gas spray. I vomited a lot because of it,”

said Varga. He added that he did not even know that what had happened had been recorded. After the incident, the police launched an internal investigation. The Kaposvár Regional Prosecutor’s Office ordered an investigation into the abuse committed during official conduct. No one has been questioned as a suspect yet. According to the lawyer interviewed by Tények, the victim may be entitled to compensation.

If the policemen are found guilty, they could be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison, blikk.hu writes. According to unconfirmed information, the two police officers in the video have not yet been suspended, and they continue to work for the police.
