A video was released in late January of a homeless man being abused and humiliated. The police had already announced that an investigation into the case had been launched.
Levente Varga was taken to the police station in December. At the police station, two policemen handcuffed him.
There were several witnesses to the incident. One of the witnesses recorded the video with his phone. He even shared the footage on the internet. TV2 Tények released a video of the case.

Levente Varga said he was transferred from the emergency department of the local hospital to the police station. He is said to have attacked a nurse in the hospital, but he does not remember that. Varga said that someone put something in his drink that knocked him out for several hours. However, he remembers what had happened at the police station.

The Kaposvár Regional Prosecutor’s Office ordered an investigation into the abuse committed during official conduct. No one has been questioned as a suspect yet. According to the lawyer interviewed by Tények, the victim may be entitled to compensation.
If the policemen are found guilty, they could be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison, blikk.hu writes. According to unconfirmed information, the two police officers in the video have not yet been suspended, and they continue to work for the police.
