4iG to Acquire Majority Stake in Nine Hungarian Defense Firms

The establishment of a defense industrial holding company will see 4iG assume 75% ownership of N7 Defence Zrt., reducing state ownership to a minority stake.
Hungary's 4iG Group is set to form a defense industrial holding company in collaboration with the Hungarian government, resulting in a significant shift in ownership of key defense assets.

Under the new arrangement, 4iG will hold a 75% majority stake in N7 Defence Zrt., thereby designating the private company as the principal owner.

Consequently, the Hungarian state will retain a minority stake of 25% minus one share, effectively losing its previous strategic majority in the operation of the defense sector.

The estimated value of the stakes being transferred is between 74.5 billion and 82.8 billion Hungarian Forints.

This consolidation will include various segments of the defense industry, such as mortar and ammunition manufacturing, the component production facility in Gyula for Airbus helicopters, and small arms and assault rifle manufacturing companies.

Critical infrastructure, including factories, equipment, and real estate, will remain under state ownership, ensuring governmental control over essential assets.

The companies involved in this transaction include:

- Aeroplex Kft., a company specializing in aircraft repair.

- Airbus Helicopters Hungary Kft., focused on helicopter component manufacturing.

- Rheinmetall Hungary Munitions Zrt., known for its ammunition production facility located in Várpalota.

- Rheinmetall Hungary Zrt., engaged in the development and manufacture of Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicles.

- Hirtenberger Kft.

and its subsidiaries, which manufacture mortars and ammunition.

- SATYPS PSP Hungary Zrt., specializing in surface treatment.

- Dynamics Nobel Defence Zrt., manufacturer of tubes for shoulder-fired anti-tank grenade launchers such as the RGW 110, in addition to developing and producing complex weapon systems.

- Arzenál Fegyvergyár Zrt., which produces small arms and defense components.

- Colt CZ Hungary Zrt., noted for the production of firearms including the CZ BREN2 assault rifle.

Notably, some companies were excluded from the N7 Holding's reorganization, such as HungaroControl and Rába Nyrt.

Additionally, it has been indicated that the changes will require approval from international partners, including Airbus, Rheinmetall, and Colt CZ.
