Hungarian Forint Falls Back to 395 Against the Euro
After a few days of modest strengthening, the exchange rate plummeted again in the early hours of Friday.
We reported on Tuesday that the Hungarian forint had fallen to 395 against the euro. After a period of minimal strengthening lasting three days, the forint finds itself back at the same level on Friday.
During the night hours, one euro was worth 394 forints, but around 3 a.m. on Friday, the exchange rate suddenly collapsed, dropping to 395.6. Approaching 7 a.m., there was a slight strengthening, with the exchange rate at 394.7 at the time of writing this article.
The forint is weakening because the dollar has started to strengthen against the euro following the news of Israel's overnight retaliatory strike against Iran. However, this is not a significant increase: on Thursday morning, one euro was worth 1.07 dollars, and by night it had only risen to 1.061. Approaching 8 a.m., the exchange rate was around 1.063.
The past few hours of the dollar-forint exchange were as follows: until 2 a.m., the rate was at 370, by around 4 a.m. it had risen to 372.9, and just before 8 a.m., it had fallen back to 371.3.
