Man Arrested with Samurai Sword: Several People Stabbed in London
A man was arrested in Hainault, east of London, after driving a vehicle into a house and stabbing several people, including police officers.
The incident was reported to the Metropolitan Police around 7:00 am (0600 GMT) and resulted in injuries to multiple individuals.
The suspect was apprehended with a "samurai-type sword." The condition of the injured individuals is currently unknown.
Five people were treated by the London Ambulance Service and taken to the hospital after a man with a Samurai-type sword was arrested near houses in a town in Greater London.
The Metropolitan Police arrested the 36-year-old man at the scene, and the incident does not appear to be terror-related according to Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan.
Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulances, were present at the scene, and footage and photographs of the incident were shared on social media.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan expressed his sadness and was in contact with authorities after an incident involving multiple stabbings in the city.
The Met Police and emergency services responded, and Khan praised their actions.
Last week, Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak criticized Khan's handling of knife crime in London, which increased by 20% in 2023 with 14,577 offenses, slightly lower than pre-pandemic levels.
