Google to Introduce a New Button on Gmail That Could Be a Game Changer
Google is currently testing a feature in its Android Gmail app that promises to put an end to the frustrating flood of newsletters.
While an occasional newsletter can be useful, receiving dozens daily is hardly a cause for celebration. This is where the new feature, already traceable in trace amounts in the mobile (Android) version of Gmail, comes in. It aims to more efficiently organize incoming newsletters into one location.
The developer who discovered the code hinting at this new feature, AssembleDebug, shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the service could only be activated through hidden settings. It will be accessible by pressing the hamburger icon in the top left corner, where among Gmail’s many options, a "Manage Subscriptions" menu item will appear.
According to the application’s code, filters will operate based on the number of emails received from a single sender. This will separate emails into categories based on whether the sender has sent fewer than 10, between 10 and 20, or more than 20 emails in a quarter. (The system will likely also analyze the structure of the emails in some way.) Unsubscribing will become simple from there, as Gmail will display the company logo next to the unsubscribe button.
The exact date when this new feature will be widely released is still unknown.
