Former Microsoft Employee Criticizes Windows 11 for Being “Comically Bad” and “Unfinished”
Criticism has come from an unexpected source for the speed of Windows 11.
According to a former Microsoft employee, even several years after its release, the operating system can sometimes be extremely slow.
From the outset, Windows 11 has been under fire for its strict hardware requirements and performance issues. The latest critique, however, comes from an unexpected source as Andy Young, a former engineer and veteran at Microsoft, has harshly criticized the system's problems. His comments likely won’t earn him a spot on the company's "Our Pride" wall.
Young runs Windows 11 on an incredibly powerful computer: an Intel Core i9 processor accompanied by 128 GB of RAM. This configuration is significantly more powerful than most consumer PCs.
However, according to Young, even on this computer, the Start menu performance is “comically bad.” “What's happening in Redmond?” he asks, highlighting through an attached video that the system indeed reacts very slowly.
The veteran engineer later remarks that he loves Windows and even contributed to its development during his years at the company. Despite this, he describes Windows 11 as "unfinished," suggesting there is still much work to be done before it can be considered complete.
As for why the system is sluggish, the exact reasons are unclear, with only speculations available. Neowin suggests that one possible reason in this instance could be the presence of ads in the Start menu, which could hamper performance.
Regardless, nearly three years after its official release, such criticism, especially from a former engineer, is undoubtedly uncomfortable for Microsoft.
